OVERVIEW

What is the QBC Summit?

The QBC Summit is the annual gathering of the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC). The event brings together members and affiliates of QuIC as well as select guests and invited speakers in an intimate setting. Over the course of two days, participants get to network with one another, exchange views on key strategic topics, and engage in discussion rounds aimed at advancing Europe’s leadership in quantum technologies.

This year, the Summit is hosted by CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. The official program takes place on 26–27 November, featuring exciting panel sessions, renowned speakers, and exclusive site visits. On the eve of the Summit (25 November), CERN will showcase its CERN Quantum Technology Initiative, offering early arrivals a chance to ease into the event and connect informally.

CERN

Why CERN?

CERN is the world’s largest particle physics laboratory, where scientists and engineers from around the globe use the most complex scientific instruments to study the fundamental building blocks of matter. Founded in 1954, it straddles the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva and today includes 24 member states.

The Quantum Technology Initiative explores how emerging quantum technologies can support CERN’s scientific mission and enables companies to adopt CERN-developed technologies and expertise.

The Open Quantum Institute, hosted at CERN, promotes global, inclusive access to quantum computing and supports the development of applications for the benefit of humanity. It serves as a neutral platform for international collaboration across research, diplomacy, industry, and philanthropy.

The Summit provides exclusive access to leading experts, cutting-edge quantum initiatives, and an opportunity to shape the future of the Quantum Business Community (QBC).

How to get to CERN

CERN is conveniently reached from Geneva and the surrounding region, whether you arrive by plane, train, car, or public transport. Clear connections from the airport, railway station, and nearby roads make access straightforward.

By plane

From Geneva International Airport at Cointrin

  • Taxi: approximately 35 CHF.
  • Public transport: take bus 23, 28 or 57 and get off at „Blandonnet“ and then catch tram 18 or bus 68 to the final stop „CERN“.
See the TPG web site for full details.

From Geneva railway station at Cornavin (Gare Cornavin)

Public transport: take tram 18 to „CERN“, which is the final stop. Ticket costs 3 CHF (Ticket „Tout Genève“ on the ticket machine).
See the TPG web site for full details.

GPS location

Address: 1, Esplanade des Particules, Meyrin, Switzerland
Reception: Lat: 46.233058, Long: 6.055692

From the Swiss side

Follow „Aeroport“, „Lyon“ or „Meyrin“. When in Meyrin head for „St. Genis“ (which is just across the border in France). Before you get to St. Genis, CERN is on the left hand side of the „Route de Meyrin“, just before the border crossing.

From the French side

Follow „Gex“ or „St. Genis“. When in St. Genis head for the border. CERN is on your right hand side immediately after the border crossing.

Plan your Stay

We suggest choosing a hotel near tram line 18 (direction CERN), which stops right outside CERN reception (Building 33): http://home.web.cern.ch/directions.

We can recommend several hotels on the Swiss side, close to the main railway station where tram 18 departs.

Special discount codes are available for QBC Summit attendees at selected hotels:

  • Hotel BERNINA Genève: 15% discount with the promo code QUICERN25 https://www.bernina-geneve.ch/. It can be used for reservations between the period from the 24th of November up to the 28th of November 2025.

  • Fassbind Hotels (all 3 hotels in Geneva): Special rates available with the promo code WIN https://fassbindhotels.ch/fr/.

On the map below, you can clearly see the nearby recommended hotels along the route, the Geneva Airport, and the CERN reception as your destination.

The Cointrin airport is a short taxi ride from CERN (around 35 CHF), while a tram ticket costs about 3 CHF.

What previous Hosts say

Hosting QuIC plenary meeting in 2023 was a great possibility for VTT and the Finnish quantum ecosystem to showcase the unique quantum know how of the north. All key stakeholders from the European quantum community joined us during two days in Espoo for sharing the latest updates and networking. As regional program we also offered our guests a possibility to visit the facilities of IQM, Bluefors or VTT after the plenary, for a deep dive into regional strongholds.

Hosting the QuIC Plenary meeting in Madrid was a key milestone in bringing together Spain’s quantum community, national authorities, and their European peers. The event highlighted AMETIC’s strong commitment to fostering innovation among its members while showcasing the remarkable capabilities and talent of Spanish companies and startups.
